Liverpool demolishes Manchester United 7-0 in the English Premier League fixture

In their Premier League match on Sunday at Anfield,  Liverpool team crushed Manchester United 7-0 on Monday. Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, and Cody Gakpo all scored twice as Liverpool prevailed.

“It was one of the best performances for a long, long time. Everybody saw what the boys can be. The second half couldn’t start better. From that moment on we were flying and it was really difficult to play against us. Everybody has to feel us. Everybody has to know we are still around. That’s what we have to be from now on,” Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was quoted as saying after the victory.

The victory margin for Jurgen Klopp’s team over the Red Devils in English football was a new high. Realistically, United’s ambitions of winning the league for the first time in ten years are over as they are still 14 points behind Arsenal after just their second loss in 23 games in all competitions.

Mohammad Salah – All-time highest scorer for Liverpool in Premier League

“The result is quite obvious. It is unprofessional. There are many things which makes me angry. To concede so easily the goal definitely one,” Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag was quoted as saying after the loss.

With a game left for Spurs, Liverpool is only three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspurs. Last season, Liverpool defeated both of its rivals by an aggregate score of 9-0 in league play, but it appeared the tide had changed this year.

But United started to falter after Gakpo scored two minutes before half-time. The visitor got in trouble in the second half when the host’s striker Darwin Nunez started to click. The scoreline could even be worse if Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate had converted their chances into goals.

Salah went on to score his second game with a help of Nunez’s through pass. With this goal, the right-wing became Liverpool’s all-time highest goal scorer in Premier League. After that, Nunez as well scored his second through a header.
