‘Mahi said he will win the trophy and play one more season’ – Suresh Raina speaks about his recent talk with MS Dhoni on his retirement

Former India skipper MS Dhoni has been one of the most celebrated cricketers in the world. He is heading towards the twilight of his career and it is a big question when will Dhoni pull off the curtains over his amazing career? However, one of his best friends and teammates Suresh Raina believes that Dhoni should play one more season for the Chennai Super Kings.

Raina who is a broadcaster for the Jio Cinema in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023, while speaking with a news agency said that there is a lot of cricket left in Dhoni and he should lead CSK for at least one more season. He also spoke about the form of Mumbai Indians and India skipper Rohit Sharma. He believes that Rohit is just one or two games away from getting his form back.

Speaking about Dhoni’s retirement Raina said, “When I met him recently Mahi bhai said he will win the trophy this year and will play the next season too (laughs). Dhoni bhai is looking good and he is batting well. CSK’s team combination is very good. He should play some more seasons. After every CSK match, there is a ‘Dhoni ki pathshala. All players come together, speak with him and learn from him. Going by the time I have spent with him and the way I know him, he should play for one more year.”

Further speaking about Rohit Sharma’s recent form with the bat and his captaincy skill Raina said that Rohit must be missing Jasprit Bumrah. He said, “He is leading the team well. He is missing a death overs bowler in his team. He must be missing Bumrah right now. He has not been able to perform with the bat recently, but he is a class player.”

“If Mumbai Indians win against RCB, they will be in the top four. Rohit needs to raise his game now. He needs to start believing in himself. He will come back to form very soon. Class is permanent. He just needs a game or two to come back to form.”

Speaking about the future captain of the Indian Cricket Team, Raina says that Hardik Pandya has a bright future. “Hardik will be the future captain for sure. He is our number-one all-rounder right now. He has a brighter future ahead of him in terms of captaincy”, says Suresh Raina to the Times of India.
