Major League Cricket: Texas Super Kings registers convincing victory against LA Knight Riders in season opener
Texas Super Kings (TKS) have started Major League Cricket Tournament 2023 with a big win against the LA Knight Riders (LAKR) in the first match of the season at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas. TKS defeated LAKR by 69 runs at match number to start off their campaign with a win. Batting first, TKS posted a total of 181 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. In reply, LAKR were bowled out for 112 runs in 14 overs.
TKS didn’t have a great start as they lost their skipper Faf du Plessis for a Golden Duck at the score of 12 runs in 1.1 overs. After that, Devon Conway took charge of the innings and went on to score the first half-century of the season. The Kiwi batter got out after scoring 55 runs off 37 balls hitting seven fours and a maximum.
Conway also put up a partnership of 77 runs with David Miller for the third wicket. Miller turned out to be the top scorer for Texas as he got out after scoring 61 runs off 42 balls with two fours and four sixes, while Dwayne Bravo added the finishing touches with 16 off 6 as TKS go past 180 runs. For LA, Ali Khan and Lockie Ferguson took 2-2 wickets, while the skipper Sunil Narine and Adam Zampa took one each.

Chasing the winning total, LAKR had a disastrous start as they lost 4 wickets for just 20 runs in 3.1 overs. The scoreline went down to 56 for 5 in 5.2 overs after Jaskaran Malhotra got out after playing a quickfire knock of 22 runs off 11 balls. After that, Andre Russel and Sunil Narine tried to take the innings further as the Caribbean duo put up a 47-run partnership for the sixth wicket.
Russel got out after scoring 55 runs off 34 balls hitting seven fours and three sixes. After that, LA started losing wickets again at regular intervals were bowled out under 120 runs and TKS registered a big victory in the first match to kickstart the season. For Texas, Mohammad Mohsin scalped 4 wickets by conceding just 8 runs in three overs. Rusty Theron and Gerald Coatzee took 2-2 wickets, while Calvin Savage and Dwayne Bravo shared a wicket each.
