‘Make the reason public’ – Former Indian opener takes a dig at selectors on not considering Sarfaraz Khan for Tests
After losing to Australia in the WTC final, India will tour West Indies for two Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is, starting on July 12. The tour will begin with the first Test in Dominica. The Test series against the Caribbean will begin India’s campaign for the new WTC cycle. The Indian Cricket Board has announced the squads for the Test and the ODI series against the Caribbean on Friday, June 2023.
Fans have been left quizzically over the selection after the Indian team selection for the West Indies tour. The Mumbai-born cricketer, Sarfaraz Khan was not considered for any of the teams, and former India opener Aakash Chopra was surprised after seeing this.
I don’t know if someone told Sarfaraz about that: Aakash Chopra
The former India opener slammed the selectors on his YouTube channel while stating that they should at least state the reason for leaving behind Sarfaraz Khan from the Test squad despite performing really well in first-class cricket.
“What should Sarfaraz do? If you look at his numbers in the past 3 years, he’s head and shoulders above the rest. He’s scored everywhere. Even then, if he’s not selected… what message does it send?” Chopra said, asking the selectors an important question,” Chopra was quoted as saying on his YouTube channel.
“This is a question worth asking. If there’s some other reason, something which you and I don’t know, make it public. Just say it that you didn’t like that particular thing about Sarfaraz, and that’s why you’re not considering him. But we don’t know if there’s something like that. I don’t know if someone told Sarfaraz about that,” the 45-year-old asserted.
