Mauricio Pochettino asks for patience from Chelsea fans, differentiates between expectations and reality

Mauricio Pochettino addressed the fans of Chelsea after the loss against Liverpool. The fans were furious as Chelsea lost by a huge margin of 1-4 to Liverpool. After the loss, Pochettino was criticized as well. Addressing the same in the press conference, Mauricio let the fans know that he is the Head coach and knows what is to be done. He felt that humans are bound to make errors. 

Mauricio claimed that such things happen in Football. He added that one needs to keep the past behind and move forward, hoping to have a better performance. Chelsea will be up against Ashton Villa in the FA Cup. The fans would be expecting a better performance from Chelsea, as promised by their coach. Pochettino felt that Chelsea has good players. 

Mauricio felt that he had not been able to find the reason behind the bad performance of the team. He added that the expectations of the people are unreal and added that the reality is entirely different. He called for the patience of the fans. “And when the expectation is different from the reality, it’s difficult to get what you deserve. That’s why patience has never arrived,” added Mauricio.

He also pointed out the selective criticism of the fans by pointing out the fact that Liverpool was not criticized as much after losing to Arsenal. He felt that the criticism of Chelsea was at a different level after losing to Liverpool. Mauricio laimed that the brutal criticism was affecting the morale of the players. Mauricio asked the fans to be behind Chelsea in tough times. 

He concluded by saying that people must be aware of the situation. “That is affecting the players, because this team needs confidence. We need support, and our fans need to be behind Chelsea. People need to realize that situation. We cannot send any different messages,” concluded Mauricio. Chelsea would be hoping to make a strong comeback in their upcoming game against Ashton Villa at the FA Cup.
