Mauricio Pochettino believes Chelsea can regain their form after win against Brighton & Hove Albion in Carabao Cup
Chelsea scored their first goal after 338 minutes. They won the EFL Cup match against Brighton & Hove Albion, on Wednesday at midnight. The head coach Mauricio Pochettino believes that the win was fully deserved by his players and this result will help regain their Premier League campaign momentum.
Chelsea are currently placed 14th in the table after six matches. They have won just one match and they lost 3 and drew two matches so far in the League. Their only victory in the EPL was against newly promoted Luton Town. Their previous EFL Cup win was a month ago against EFL League 2 team AFC Wimbledon in August.
Nicolas Jackson scored in the 50th minute of the third-round match as the Blues earned its first win in four games in all competitions. They are set to face Blackburn Rovers in the last-16 clash, which will be played on Oct. 30. They have so far managed to score just five goals in the Premier League.
It is good for us to get through to the next round and I think we deserved our victory: Mauricio Pochettino
Pochettino after the match said, “It’s an important victory. It is good for us to get through to the next round and I think we deserved our victory. I am pleased with the performance, but we need to keep this momentum. Very pleased when the strikers score, it’s important. He needed to feel the net, it was an important game for him.”
“All the team was really good. If we assess, all the players were in a very good level. Cole is a very talented player, he was key in this victory. He’s still young, he still needs to settle in the club and the city but we saw today how good he is. I think they (the players) showed character and personality.”
Brighton’s coach Roberto De Zerbi backed his team, as a number of first-team players were been rested after Sunday’s win over Bournemouth. On the other hand, the Blues play their next game away from home against Fulham.
