Michael Bracewell to Matthew Short, here are all the replacements in Indian T20 League 2023

The 16th edition of the Indian T20 League is just a few days away. The 10 franchises will be competing against each other across 12 cities for glory. However, some teams have suffered a huge loss as their key players have been ruled out of the tournament due to various reasons. Although the franchises have already found their replacements and will be having high hopes from them for the upcoming season. Here is the list of the players from the team who have been replaced.

Michael Bracewell replaces Will Jacks (Bangalore)

New Zealand all-rounder Michael Bracewell, who went unsold in the 2023 auction, has replaced Will Jacks in the Bangalore franchise for the upcoming season. Jacks was roped in by Bangalore for INR 3.20 core in the 2023 auction.

The 24-year-old recently made his ODI debut for England in a series against Bangladesh. However, he suffered a muscle injury while fielding in the second ODI due to which he was ruled out from the third ODI and will be missing from the entire season of the Indian T20 League. Bracewell will be replacing him for the upcoming season. The 32-year-old can be a crucial batter for Bangalore coming down the order, and can also provide important wickets being a right-arm spinner.

Sisanda Magala replaces Kyle Jamieson (Chennai)

New Zealand pacer Kyle Jamieson was bought by the Chennai franchise at the base price of 1 crore. Jamieson last played for the Kiwis in a Test series against England in 2022. He picked up an injury during that time and now is slated to undergo surgery which is likely to sideline him for at least four months. However, the franchise have found his replacement as the South African pacer Sisanda Magala.

Magala has appeared in four T20Is and five ODIs for the Proteas. He also made his appearance in the recently concluded SA20 League where he scalped 14 wickets from the 12 games played for Sunrisers Eastern Cape.

Matthew Short replaces Jonny Bairstow (Punjab)

England batter Jonny Bairstow will not be seen playing for the Punjab franchise in the upcoming season as he has been ruled from the 2023 season due to an injury he sustained in September 2022. The franchise already announced his replacement who will be Matthew Short. The 27-year-old Australian will play for Punjab as the top-order batter in the upcoming season. Short has played 67 T20 matches where he amassed 1409 runs with a strike rate of 136.
