‘Seems to me you were bowled by Virat Kohli’ – Michael Vaughan takes cheeky dig at Mohammad Hafeez for calling swashbuckling batter ‘selfish’ during ODI World Cup 2023 vs SA

Team India thrashed South Africa in their recent clash on November 5 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata to book their top spot in the points table of the league stage of the ODI World Cup 2023. Notably, India’s swashbuckling batsman Virat Kohli was the one who stood up for his side and hammered the magnificent hundred that had equalled Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar’s record after his 49th ODI century.

However, following that, former Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Hafeez has called Virat Kohli’s innings the selfish innings. The great all-rounder feels it was the third time Virat Kohli played the selfish inning, as he aimed to score a century over the team’s performances.

“I saw a sense of selfishness in Virat Kohli’s batting and this happened for the third time in this World Cup. In the 49th over, he was looking to take a single to reach his own hundred and he didn’t put the team first,” Hafeez said on a cricket show ‘Top Cricket Analysis’.

However, after his remarks, former England cricketer Michael Vaughan lashed out at him on social media. The legendary cricketer also provided the correct explanation for why former India skipper Virat Kohli was taking singles against in-form Proteas when he was nearing the century mark. In addition, the former batting legend also called his remarks utterly nonsense.

“Come on @MHafeez22 !!! India have hammered 8 teams playing great cricket .. @imVkohli now has 49 tons and his last was an anchor role innings on a tricky pitch .. His team won by over 200 !!!! This is utter nonsense ..,” Michael Vaughan posted on X.

Meanwhile, Michael Vaughan took another cheeky dig at him. The well-renowned cricket commentator shared the video of the India vs. Pakistan clash, where Virat Kohli had dismissed him. Moreover, the Manchester-born cricketer further jokingly asked him: Is this a reason that fired him to make a baseless remark about India’s chase master?

“Seems to me you were bowled by Virat Kohli. Is this the reason you constantly have a pop at him ..” Michael Vaughan wrote on X.
