The final game of the ODI World Cup 2023 will be played between India and Australia on Sunday. Both the teams had begun their campaign against each other at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on the 8th of October. Nearly 41 days later the two sides meet against at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

South Africa batted first after winning the toss and were bowled out for 212 runs in the final over of the innings. David Miller was the only man who stood up to the Australian bowling unit on a tough pitch in Kolkata.

Pat Cummins and his side completed a fine turnaround after losing the first two games of the ODI World Cup 2023. South Africa on the other hand will look at the tournament with huge disappointment as they let go of a great chance to win their first ODI World Cup.

Australia hold their nerves to win versus South Africa

Travis Head and David Warner went after the South African bowlers right from the start. The two Australian batters scored at ten runs per over to put the Australian in the driving. Aiden Markram made an immediate impact by dismissing David Warner for 29 and Kagiso Rabada then got rid of Mitchell Marsh for a duck,

Steve Smith played a sedate innings as Travis Head was going great guns. Against the run of play, Keshav Maharaj got Head out for 62. Marnus Labuschagne and Glenn Maxwell fell in quick succession to Tabraiz Shamsi to bring South Africa back into the game.

Josh Inglis and Steve Smith then added 37 runs for the 6th wicket as the Aussies took the upper hand once again. Gerald Coetzee got the big wicket of Steve Smith caught by De Kock for 30. The young pacer then bowled Inglis for 28 to open the game once again. Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc though held their nerves to help their team win the game.

Earlier in the day David Miller scored 101 runs along with 47 runs from Heinrich Klaasen to help South Africa reach 212. Apart from the two middle-order batters none of the others could put up a substantial score on the board which came back to haunt South Africa.
