Australia’s star cricketer Mitchell Marsh won the Allan Border Medal during the Cricket Australia Awards 2024 on Wednesday. Notably, Mitchell Marsh beat Australia skipper Pat Cummins and star opening batter Steve Smith and became the first Australian all-rounder to win the title. However, the 32-year-old cricketer was in tears and very emotional while giving his acceptance speech.

The opening batter had first thanked his wife Greta for her unwavering support for him, regardless of the situation. In addition, the Attadale-born cricketer reveals that his wife is his perspective on life and how he gets support from his wife, whether he hits the century or gets out in duck.

“Greta is an amazing human, I said in my wedding vows eight months ago. She gave me the perspective on life I needed, and our life is a lot of fun. If I get a duck or get a hundred, she’s always the same,” Mitchell Marsh said in the video.

Meanwhile, Mitchell Marsh has thanked his teammates, who were part of his cricketing career. The right-arm pacer had particularly thanked Australian coach and skipper Andrew McDonald and Pat Cummins, respectively, who had always believed in him irrespective of the situation. In addition, the ODI World Cup 2023-winning star was feeling unbelievable after receiving the great honour.

“To my teammates. I just love playing in this team. I have had so much fun in the last 12-18 months. We have had so much team success and I am proud to contribute to that over this period of time. I would particularly like to thank Ronny (Andrew McDonald) and Patty (Pat Cummins). You believed in me and I can’t thank you enough for believing in me. I’m a bit fat at times and I love a beer, but you see the best in me always. Playing under you has been an absolute dream. It really is a huge honour. I can’t believe it,” Mitchell Marsh added further.
