We are set for a thrilling week of tennis action as the 116th Monte-Carlo Masters will get underway on April 9. The competition will be the year’s first clay-court Masters 1000 competition. For the second year in a row, Rafael Nadal, the most dominant winner in the tournament’s history, will not be taking part. The injury Nadal sustained during the Australian Open has not yet fully recovered. Carlos Alcaraz, who will be sitting out due to fitness concerns, is another major absence from the tournament.

This tournament started back in 1897 and it is the oldest tournament in the history of Tennis. In that competition, Reginald Doherty won against Conway Blackwood Price in the grand finals. Nadal has won this tournament the most number of times that is 11 times. Players like Novak Djokovic, Bjorn Borg, and Ivan Lendl have won it a number of times. Stefanos Tsitsipas won this tournament on the last two occasions. In the last edition, he defeated Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the final.

The Monte-Carlo Masters tournament will take place at the Monte Carlo Country Club, which has a capacity of 10,000 spectators.

Schedule:

The tournament’s qualifying round will start on April 8 and end on April 9. The main draw will start on April 10. April 14 is the day for the quarterfinals, while April 15 is the date for the semifinals. The finals will take place on Sunday, April 16.

Prize Money:
