Currently, the sixth edition of the Abu Dhabi T10 League is going on. On 4 December, Deccan Gladiators and New York Strikers locked horns in the final in Abu Dhabi. Meanwhile, MS Dhoni is currently busy preparing for the next Indian T20 League season. He will be in action for his Chennai franchise in that rich vein league.

However, there are several reports that the next edition of the Indian T20 League might be the last one for the former Indian skipper. Now, the chairman of this Abu Dhabi T10 League, Shaji Ul Mulk opened up about the influence MS Dhoni has on this league.

“Hopefully, he will be with us when he wants” – T10 Sports Management chairman Shaji Ul Mulk on MS Dhoni’s chances to play this league

While speaking to IANS on the sideline of Abu Dhabi T10, Shaji Ul Mulk said: “When I met him (Dhoni), I shared my idea with him and he said it’s brilliant. But when I informed him that I am thinking of changing some rules in the game, like to make it 10 players cricket, Dhoni suggested not to do this.”

Then, he opened up about the chances of MS Dhoni playing in this league in the coming days. “Talks are on, hopefully, he will be with us when he wants, maybe after this Indian T20 League or as he feels. We are in talks with some retired Indian cricketers, and we believe this T10 format will grow in the coming years. We are planning four T10 leagues next year, and two major boards have joined hands with us. One is Sri Lanka and the second will be announced on Sunday,” he said.

However, recent reports have suggested that MS Dhoni might work with a specialized set of Indian players.  After the upcoming Indian T20 League, he will be back in team India to work with some players in the upcoming years. The Board are keen to use the experience of Dhoni. So, the Board might ask him to work with certain players in the T20 setup for bringing a fearless attitude to them for major tournaments.
