‘My heart is sinking’ – Fans react to David Warner’s terrific knock in ODI World Cup 2023 vs Pakistan

The Australian team made the Pakistani bowlers look pedestrian on Friday in Bengaluru. David Warner and Mitchell Marsh smashed the men in green to all parts of the ground. Australia posted 367/9 from their 50 overs.

It was a day to remember for David Warner as he scored his 21st ODI century for his nation. The knock was extra special after the left-handed batter had shown his displeasure after his dismissal against Sri Lanka.

Pakistan won the toss and Babar Azam inserted Australia into the bat. Usama Mir played his first game of the ODI World Cup 2023 by replacing Shadab Khan. The Australians did not make any changes to their team that won the last game in Lucknow on Monday.

David Warner and Mitchell Marsh’s assault helps Australia to huge score

Pakistan wanted to make a statement after their huge loss to India in the last game. Usama Mir though dropped the catch of David Warner to give the Australians a huge slice of luck. There was no stopping the two Aussie openers who tore the opposition attack with the bat.

David Warner and Mitchell Marsh scored put-on 259 runs for the 1st wicket in 33.4 overs. Both the batters were in a race to reach the triple-figure mark and David Warner was the first to get to the mark. A push down the ground off Mohammad Nawaz saw Warner score his 21st century in ODI cricket.

Mitchell Marsh is celebrating his birthday on Friday and he made it a special day by scoring his 2nd ODI ton. The 32-year-old cracked a fiercely struck four through the covers off Nawaz to reach the mark.

Shaheen Afridi ended the day with figures of 5/54 from his 10 overs with 1 maiden. The 23-year-old began by dismissing Mitchell Marsh for 121 and Glenn Maxwell for a duck. Marcus Stoinis became Afridi’s third wicket before Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood became the 4th and 5th wicket.

Australia lost nine wickets for just 108 runs to end up with a score of 367. At one point it looked as if the five-time champions were well on their way to score 400. Haris Rauf picked 3 wickets but was hit for 83 runs from his 8 overs.
