Australia’s star cricketer Nathan Lyon has recently opened up about the impact that Ravichandran Ashwin has created in his life. Notably, the Pat Cummins-led Australian side is all set to face the Pakistani team for the three Test series matches slated to commence on December 14 in Perth. The hosts will be looking to outclass the Men in Green, who are currently sitting at the top of the table in the World Test Championship Cycle of 2023-2025.

Australia’s great spinner, Nathon Lyon, called Ashwin the world-class bowler whom he has watched closely since his childhood days. In addition, the right-arm off-spinner reveals that he possesses a lot of respect for Ashwin in his heart, thinking of the legacy he has created for Team India in his cricketing career.

“You look at Ashwin, he’s a world-class bowler and somebody I’ve watched closely from the start of his career We’ve gone head-to-head many times in different conditions around the world. I’ve got nothing but respect for Ashwin and the way he’s gone about it,” Nathan Lyon said on the eve of the Perth Test against Pakistan, as quoted by cricket.com.au.

The 36-year-old cricketer reveals that he has learned a lot from India’s all-rounder, Ravichandran Ashwin. Moreover, the South Wales-born cricketer called him one of the biggest coaches of his life. The 2023 WTC final winning member is excited to witness each of them grab 500 Test wickets soon in their cricket career. Nathan Lyon believes that he has learned a lot while playing against a tough Indian side.

“I’ve definitely learned from him. There’s an opportunity to learn from the people you play against, and without knowing it he’s probably been one of my biggest coaches in a way. It’s pretty amazing to see we’re both creeping up to that 500 mark, and we’ll see where we end up. Hopefully at the end of our career we’ll sit down and have a nice feed and a beer and talk about it,” he added further.
