‘Kiwis are at next level’ – Fans react as New Zealand beat Netherlands in their second game of ODI World Cup 2023

After a magnificent win over the defending champions in the opening match of the ODI World Cup 2023 on October 5 at the iconic Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium, New Zealand once again showed their stellar performance and won their second game of the tournament against the Netherlands by 99 runs on October 9 at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad.

Speaking of the game, it was the Netherlands that won the toss and invited the Black Caps to bat first following the toss. After being sent to bat first, the Kiwis posted a massive total of 322/7 in the given 50 overs. Notably, New Zealand star openers Devon Conway and Will Young piled up 32 and 70 runs, respectively, giving them a brilliant start in the innings.

Following that, star cricketer Rachin Ravindra hammered half a century along with great batter Daryll Mitchell, who also scored 48 runs that boosted their middle order. Moreover, stand-in skipper Tom Latham struck out 53 runs. However, their lower order faltered as Glenn Philips and Mark Chapman departed after scoring runs in single digits.

Later, towards the end, star all-rounders Mitchell Santner and Matt Henry guided their side to a 322/7 score against the Dutch team. Notably, the Netherlands had already lost the first game against Pakistan on October 6, whereas they again lost the second game against New Zealand on Monday, despite a good show in the Cricket World Cup Qualifiers earlier this year.

Meanwhile, the Netherlands didn’t get a good start in the innings as openers Vikramjit Singh and Dowd departed for just 12 and 16 runs, respectively, and failed to get a good start. Notably, top-order batter Ackermann piled up the highest run for his side as he struck out 69 runs from 73 balls. Following them, their middle order couldn’t continue this great form and suffered back-to-back losses against Pakistan and New Zealand in the ODI World Cup 2023.
