‘No 1 team ke maje le rhe bhai’ – Fans react as Irfan Pathan takes sly dig at Pakistan, says India v Sri Lanka final won’t be one-sided in Asia Cup 2023

Babar Azam and Co. suffered a loss by two wickets against Sri Lanka in the Super Fours of the Asia Cup 2023 on September 14 at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Notably, this heavy loss in the must-encounter clash makes Pakistan out of the tournament, whereas home team Sri Lanka is all set to defend their title as they will be facing Team India on September 17 in the final of the Asia Cup 2023.

Notably, Pakistan needed the win against Dasun Shanaka’s side to qualify for the finals owing to their poor run rate if rain halted the play. Speaking about their journey in recent times, the Pakistan team beat Afghanistan 3-0 in the three matches of the ODI series ahead of the Asia Cup. Meanwhile, the Men in Green registered a massive win against Nepal in their opening game of the Asia Cup 2023, whereas they bundled out Team India for just 266 runs in their second game of the group stages.

However, after qualifying in the Super Fours, they suffered a historic loss against India as the Men in Blue posted a massive target of 356 runs against Pakistan owing to wonderful knocks from India’s stalwarts Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul that helped their side post a challenging total against Pakistan. Later, while chasing, Babar Azam and Co. were bundled out for just 128 runs and suffered a heavy loss, which places them in the third position in the points table. Notably, Team India won that match single-handedly as star spinner Kuldeep Yadav decimated their batting line-up.

Playing finals against Sri Lanka will be better for team India: Irfan Pathan

Notably, in their do-or-die clash, Sri Lanka grabbed the second spot in the points table of the marquee event after defeating them to enter the finals. Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka team also suffered a narrow loss against India earlier. Speaking on the same subject, former India cricketer turned analyst Irfan Pathan took a sly dig at the Pakistan team after their loss against Sri Lanka in the must-win encounter.

The former all-rounder expressed happiness for the Sri Lanka team for qualifying for the final and giving a tough fight to India, unlike Pakistan. “Playing finals against Sri Lanka will be better for team India as it will not be a one sided affair,” Irfan Pathan wrote on X.
