Nodwin Gaming acquires Comic Con India

Indian esports event organizer Nodwin Gaming has now acquired Comic Con India for Rs 55 crore. The company has acquired 100% of the shares of Comic Con India from the founders of Jatin Varma and Karan Kalra.

The Comic Con is one of the biggest conventions that host pop-cultural festivals including comics, video games, cosplay, movies and TV shows along with many other things.

“For more than a decade, we have worked tirelessly to build a unique space in India for promoting and celebrating popular culture. And with that goal in our mind, I am very excited to join hands with Nodwin Gaming in taking the next step and building upon this goal together,” Varma said in a statement.

Nodwin planning to utilize Comic Con

Nodwin Gaming, which is a subsidy for Nazara Tech, is known to host some of the biggest esports events across India. The company started in 2024 by partnering with the Esports League (ESL) to host the BGMI pro series.

Last year, the company also teamed up with Blast, another big international esports event host, to bring ‘The Draft’. It is a Counter-Strike event for both Indian and Pakistani teams to get a chance to compete on the international stage.

Speaking on the recent acquisition, Co-founder and Managing Director of Nodwin Gaming, Akshat Rathee said, “With the continued intersection of gaming/pop culture/esports into one interactive entertainment sector, Nodwin will add a strong and robust IP that is scalable both in India and Internationally.”

While the company have not revealed any of their plans, fans believe that this may open up a new door for the esports scene across Asia neighbours. The company have already established its presence in other countries like Singapore, the Middle East, and Turkey.
