Indian cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar comes up with great insights into the game now that he had become a full-time commentator and analyst for the game. From time to time, his predictions and suggestions have ringed true to players as well as fans.

In a similar series, the legendary batter has made a huge claim about an upcoming India player. Gavaskar has gone so far as to compare the player to arguably the greatest Indian player of all time. That player is pace sensation, Umran Malik!

“One player I am most excited to see playing for India after Sachin Tendulkar is Umran Malik,” Gavaskar said on SonyLIV ahead of the second ODI between India and Bangladesh in Dhaka on Wednesday.

Malik has been sensational in the last season of the Indian T20 League. He has impressed all with his mighty pace and now have begun troubling batters in international cricket. Earlier Malik talked about his learning from the game and said that he has been developing new deliveries.

“I am working on developing new deliveries. Like, I am working on slowers and yorkers for T20s. Also, I am working very well on pitching good-length and hard-length balls. I am enjoying a lot by working alongside the coaches and feels really good,” Umran had said. The Jammu Kashmir bowler has been proud to represent the country on the international stage.

“When I am playing for India, it is a national duty and have to do well. If I do well, will stay here in the team for a long. I just want to play long for India and perform well,” he added.

India faced a disappointing loss against Bangladesh

Malik came up with an impressive performance against Bangladesh in the 2nd ODI wherein he took 2 wickets in 10 overs while giving 58 runs. He also clocked in 151kmph in the match when he bowled Najmul Hossain Shanto in the 14th over. India however could not win the match despite Rohit Sharma’s heroics with the bat at the end.
