Rohit Sharma and Co. recently won the title of Asia Cup 2023 as they defeated Sri Lanka by 10 wickets on September 17 at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Notably, the Men in Blue have displayed their fabulous performances in the Continental Cup, which allows them to win the marquee event. Following the win, a plethora of experts and former cricketers started praising India’s skipper, Rohit Sharma, for his unique leadership.

Notably, former India cricketer turned analyst Sanjay Manjrekar is one of them who has lauded the 36-year-old skipper while highlighting his abilities to make those around him very comfortable in every situation. The well-renowed cricket commentator says that the best thing about the batting master is that he is very secure. In addition, the former batter feels players respect Rohit Sharma not only as a skipper but also as a great player.

“Players feel comfortable around Rohit Sharma. Yes, they would respect him as a captain and a player, but it might not be very formal. The best thing about Rohit Sharma is that he is very secure. You never feel like he is trying to project an image of himself. Very few public figures are secure, and Rohit is one of them,” Sanjay Manjrekar said.

Meanwhile, the 58-year-old cricketer feels the environment in the Indian dressing room has been quite positive after their win in the Asia Cup 2023. The former right-handed batter also shared an example where wicketkeeper batsman KL Rahul guided Kuldeep Yadav to take the wicket of Sri Lanka’s star batter Sadeera during the Super Fours of the Asia Cup 2023. In addition, the former middle-order star feels there is huge professional respect among India’s cricketers for each other.

“The environment within the Indian team has changed. There is a positive culture now. We saw how KL Rahul reacted when Kuldeep Yadav took a wicket after his suggestion. Similarly, when Axar Patel was batting, everyone was very happy to see him do well. There is professional respect among each other,” he added further.
