Paarl Royals beat Pretoria Capitals by 10 runs during the sixth game of SA20 2024, which took place on January 14 at SuperSport Park Cricket Stadium in Centurion. Notably, Paarl Royals registered the win twice against the same opponent in the ongoing thrilling league and currently place themselves at the top of the points table.

Speaking about the game, Pretoria Capitals skipper James Neesham won the toss and invited the Paarl Royals to bat first in the game. Notably, after being sent to bat first, the Paarl Royals posted a massive total of 210/3 in the given 20 overs. However, the Pretoria Capitals were looking into great momentum as Will Jacks and South Africa star batter Rilee Rossouw went to hammer half-centuries, but they kept on losing wickets.

Meanwhile, Lungi Ngidi was the star of the game for Paarl Royals, as he picked up four wickets to help the Paarl Capitals win the game. The right-arm seamer feels it was the batter that helped him win the game, as they posted the massive total, which can easily be defended on such a tricky pitch.

“The batters did very well to set that game up for us. I know the areas I need to hit here. Was a bit of nerve-wracking when Rilee and Jacks were going. The result worked in our favor. Having Shane Bond as the coach has given me the freedom. A lot of people might think I’m bowling too many slower balls but he said if it’s working keep them going. I am a Paarl boy right now, that’s the team I play for. I am going to do everything to help them get the trophy. Unfortunately, this (performance) came at my home ground but I’m very happy for the team,” Lungi Ngidi said after the win.
