His innings helped GT to register a 34-run win over SRH and become the first team to qualify for the IPL 2023 Playoffs.

Talking about the match, with the help of Gill’s century, GT posted a total of 188 runs for the loss of 9 wickets at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad. The hosts didn’t had a great start as they lost Wriddhiman Saha for a duck in the very first over by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. After that, Gill and Sai Sudharsan took charge of the innings by putting up a partnership of 147 runs for the second wicket.

Sudharsan got out after scoring 47 runs off 36 balls with six fours and a maximum. After his dismissal, Gill took the innings further with wickets falling regularly from the other end. Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s 5-wicket haul went in vain

However, GT bowlers also didn’t give a chance to the SRH batters to chase the winning total as they kept taking wickets at regular intervals. SRH were restricted at 154 runs for the loss of 9 wickets and become the team after Delhi Capitals to get knocked out of the playoffs race.
