‘Punjab bhi zarur bahar hojayegi jaldi’ – Fans react to a high scoring thriller between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals

Punjab Kings took on the Delhi Capitals in the picturesque venue of Dharamshala in a must-win game for the home team. Shikhar Dhawan chose to field first, but DC seriously made him regret that decision by batting with all guns blazing. After settling down for a few overs, making his comeback, Prithvi Shaw, along with David Warner, began to target the PBKS pacers.

The opening pair put on the best IPL stand ever for their squad this season, and it required something special from Shikhar Dhawan as he took a magnificent diving catch to get Warner out to the dugout. He was succeeded by Rossouw, who immediately made his intentions known by eliminating KG Rabada. With Shaw’s wicket, PBKS regained some control and snuck in a handful of quiet overs.

Ellis, who was bowling the final over before Arshdeep or Rabada, was hit for 23 runs after going for 18 in the preceding over. The batting unit for the PBKS was always going to have a difficult time scoring 214, but Dew could have worked in their favour.

Punjab began by offering Khaleel a maiden as a gift to the player and the team. Dhawan was duped by a duck on the very first ball of the second over and the beginning wasn’t great. They were able to re-enter the game thanks to Atharva Taide and Liam Livingstone, but the rate was above 17 heading into the final five overs. As DC proceeded to blow chances one after another, a partnership developed.

If not, Delhi Capitals may have ended the game much sooner. Taide was strategically retired from play. Sam Curran, Shahrukh Khan, and Jitesh Sharma couldn’t muster much, though. That meant Livingstone was the only person responsible for the run chase. Despite his best efforts, they were 15 runs short of the target.
