‘It is a challenging place to bat….’ – Rahul Dravid opens up Team India batters’ strategy for South Africa tour

Team India is all set to face South Africa for the multi-format series slated to commence on December 10. Notably, the Men in Blue recently won the T20I series against Australia by 4-1 on December 3 and will be looking to dominate the Proteas as well in the upcoming series. Speaking on the same subject, Team India head coach Rahul Dravid has opened up about India’s plan to approach South Africa in their home condition.

The former India skipper reveals that it is a bit challenging and tricky to bat in South Africa due to the tricky pitch. In addition, the legendary cricketer reveals that each batter will have a game plan to approach Proteas for the upcoming clash.

“So, it is a challenging place to bat; the statistics will tell you that. It is one of the more difficult places to bat in, especially up here in Centurion and Johannesburg. The wickets do tend to do a bit, and they tend to get up and down as well. Every one of the batsmen will have a game plan as to how they want to go, as long as they are clear about it and they commit to it and are practising towards that, that’s fine,” Rahul Dravid said on Star Sports.

We want them to be very clear about what works for them: Rahul Dravid

The former batting legend reveals that the batter has a clear plan against bowlers, and they will be executing the same in the matches. Moreover, the Indore-born cricketer feels that if the players get the chance to settle on wickets, then they will be the match winners in the series.

“We want them to be very clear about what works for them, and then be able to execute that. The boys, once they get out there, a lot of it is mental, and I guess, you know, we try and stress on the fact that if we do get going, if we get the opportunity to get set, they try to make it a match-winning contribution,” he added further.
