Ravichandran Ashwin withdraws from Rajkot Test squad with immediate effect due to family medical emergency
India’s star cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin will no longer be part of the ongoing India vs. England third Test which is taking place at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. Notably, the star cricketer has recently achieved the biggest milestones as he picked up 500 Test wickets on Day 1 of the Test in Rajkot.
However, the Indian Cricket Board has revealed that the star cricketer has flown back to Chennai due to a family emergency. The sources have revealed that his mother is currently unwell, and he asked for an emergency leave to be with her during the critical stage.
“Ravichandran Ashwin has withdrawn from the Test squad, effective immediately due to a family medical emergency. In these challenging times, the Board and the team fully support Ashwin. Wishing speedy recovery of mother of R Ashwin. He has to rush and leave the Rajkot Test to Chennai to be with his mother,” the Indian Cricket Board wrote in a media release on Friday.

The board had extended their support to a great all-rounder to be with his family in such a serious situation. In addition, the management had requested that the media and fans give privacy to the 37-year-old cricketer. Meanwhile, Ravichandran Ashwin’s absence is a big loss for Team India, as the visiting side, England, are in a strong position in the first session of Day 2 and will be looking to win the third Test match.
