‘RCB needed fire, but they got flower’ – Fans react to Andy Flower’s appointment as new head coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore

Former Zimbabwe cricketer Andy Flower is all set to take on the head coach’s role for Royal Challengers Bangalore men’s IPL team in the next edition. Notably, former India cricketer and head coach Sanjay Bangar and director of cricket operations Mike Hesson have parted ways with the franchise.

The former wicketkeeper batter was Lucknow Super Giants’ head coach in IPL 2022 and 2023. After a period of two years, LSG refused to extend Flower’s contract. Notably, during both years, LSG finished in fourth place. In addition, RCB defeated LSG in 2022, whereas in 2023, MI knocked them out of the playoff race.

RCB Vice President Rajesh Menon expressed his happiness and called Andy Flower one of the best coaches. He said that Andy’s record of success will lead RCB towards success. “Andy is one of the best coaches in the game today. He has inspired players in leagues across the world. His track record of success is ideal to take RCB forward.”
