Reports: Rahul Dravid, Rohit Sharma, Ajit Agarkar hold brief meeting ahead of Asia Cup 2023

Rohit Sharma and Co. are all set to lift the title of the Asia Cup 2023 against Sri Lanka on September 17 at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Notably, Team India displayed some magnificent performances during the Asia Cup 2023, as they defeated Nepal in the group stage while beating Sri Lanka and Pakistan in the Super Fours to make their way to the finals of the Asia Cup 2023.

According to reports, Indian team management conducted the meeting with skipper Rohit Sharma, head coach Rahul Dravid, and batting coach Vikram Rathore ahead of the final clash of the Asia Cup 2023 at the hotel where the Indian team is staying. In addition, it is also speculated that the meeting was later joined by bowling coach Paras Mhambrey and newly appointed chief selector Ajit Agarkar to finalize the playing eleven for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia.

India will face Australia in a three-match ODI series at home after Asia Cup 2023 final

Notably, the upcoming three-match ODI series will mark the preparation of the ODI World Cup. Intriguingly, both teams will be facing each other on October 8 in Chennai to commence their ODI World Cup journey. However, Australia is all set to take on South Africa on September 17 during the fifth ODI before taking on India for the bilateral series. Meanwhile, the first match will be played on September 22 at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali. The second match will be played at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore, whereas the third will be played at the Saurashtra Cricket Stadium in Gujarat.

Notably, a few players are yet to recover from injuries to get a place in the ODI World Cup. Earlier, captain Pat Cummins and star batter Steve Smith sustained injuries during the Ashes, whereas Travis Head and Glenn Maxwell sustained injuries during the ongoing South Africa tour. Star all-rounder Mitchell Marsh is leading the side in the absence of regular skipper Pat Cummins. However, Axar Patel also got injured and was replaced by 23-year-old Washington Sundar ahead of the final showdown.
