Reports suggest circumstances that led to Roman Reigns vs The Rock at WrestleMania 40

Published on

The latest reports have claimed the circumstances that led to the match between the Rock and Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40. According to these reports, the matchup between the Rock and Roman Reigns was never in the store for WrestleMania 40. The reports claimed that the match between the two of them was set to happen somewhere after WrestleMania 40.

However, several injuries in recent times have meant that there was a forced change in the plans of WWE. The first of them all was Seth Rollins, who sustained a knee injury while defending the title against Jinder Mahal on Monday Night Raw. While he is set to compete at WrestleMania 40, it looks like his opponent who was booked for the big match picked up the injury.

CM Punk was set to take on Rollins at WM 40. But due to his injury in the Royal Rumble, there was a change in plan. Some reports claimed that Punk was to win the Rumble to take on Rollins, while Cody was to win the Elimination Chamber. The injury of Punk probably led to the change in the result. But since Punk got injured, a key face from WrestleMania disappeared.

Vince McMahon and Brocke Lesnar’s case leads to the decision

In the last week, The Rock became a permanent member of the TKO holdings. It gives special power to the individuals to have their say in the decision-making. It was also an unfortunate incident for WWE that both Vince McMahon and Brock Lesnar were reported to be involved in the s*x trafficking case. In the form of Brock, WWE lost another key player from WM 40.

Without two main Superstars not taking part in the big event, WWE had to make a forceful decision of The Rock challenging Roman at WrestleMania. While the fans are not happy with the fact that the decision was made, it looks like the decision was justified by WWE given the lack of sellouts otherwise for the big event. Cody might still face Roman in the Summer Slam.
