‘He told me to continue playing…’ – Rinku Singh opens up on his conversation with head coach Rahul Dravid ahead of 1st T20I vs South Africa

Team India is all set to lock horns against South Africa for the first T20I game slated to commence on December 10 in Durban. Notably, the Men in Blue recently played five matches of the T20I series against ODI World Cup 2023 champions Australia, and they will be looking to dominate hosts in the next T20I series.

However, India’s star cricketer, Rinku Singh, has opened up about the talks he had with head coach Rahul Dravid ahead of the first T20I. The 26-year-old cricketer was ecstatic after working with Rahul Dravid for the first time. In addition, the KKR star has highlighted how former India skipper Dravid has praised him and pushed him to bat magnificently at numbers 5 and 6.

Rinku Singh also opened up about how comfortable he feels batting in the lower order. Moreover, the southpaw revealed that if wickets are 4-5 down, then batting at lower order becomes difficult for the batter. The left-handed batter also opened up about a few players with whom he enjoys the most on the team.

He told me to continue playing the way I do and continue believing in myself. (He told me) to keep playing at No. 5 or 6. It is tough to play in that position, but keep pushing yourself and believe in yourself,” Rinku Singh said being quoted by NDTV Sports.

“I have been playing for UP since 2013 at No. 5 or 6. So, I have got used to that position. I keep backing myself to play in that position because it is very tough to play in that position if 4-5 wickets are down. We 4-5 players remain in a group. Me, Ravi (Bishnoi), Arshdeep (Singh), Avesh (Khan), Jitesh (Sharma). We enjoy each other’s company, which is very important in cricket,” he added further.
