Team India lost the second T20I against West Indies and went down 0-2 in the five-match T20I series against the home team. Team India’s skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and invited the hosts to field first. Meanwhile, after opting to bat first, the Men in Blue had an awful start as their opener, Shubman Gill, departed for just 7 runs. In addition, Kishan was looking in solid form but couldn’t continue for so long and was dismissed for 27 runs. Following him, star batters Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Samson departed for single-digit runs. Furthermore, towards the end, Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya scored 51 and 24, respectively, to post a total of 152 runs in the given 20 overs.

Later, while chasing, the home team also had a miserable start as their opener, King, was dismissed without scoring any runs. Notably, Kyle Mayers and Charles were also dismissed for 15 and 2 runs, respectively. In addition, the star batter, Nicholas Pooran, changed the momentum of the game after smashing 67 runs from just 40 balls, featuring six boundaries and four sixes. Moreover, skipper Powell and Hetmyer also added 21 and 22 runs, which helped them chase down the target with 7 balls to spare against the visitors.

Batters need to take more responsibility for the team: Pandya

Meanwhile, Men in Blue skipper Pandya admitted that their batting was not pleasing and they could have put up the total by around 170 runs to make the difference. Moreover, the great allrounder praises Tilak Varma and states that he helped his side post a respectable score.

“If am being honest that was a not a pleasing batting performance, we could have batted better. 160+ or 170 would have been a good total. The way he (Tilak Varma) has been batting, becomes very difficult to rotate spinners. We have to find ways to make sure we have the right balance but at the same time batters need to take more responsibility,” Pandya said after the loss.
