’99 per cent he will play’ – Rohit Sharma provides big update on Shubman Gill ahead of high-octane battle of India-Pakistan Clash
Team India is all set to lock horns for the high-octane battle against Pakistan on October 14 at the iconic Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. Notably, Rohit Sharma and Co. have won the first two games of the ODI World Cup 2023 against five-time world champions Australia and Afghanistan, respectively. In addition, they will be taking Babar Azam and Co. for their third clash on October 14.
However, India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, has provided a huge update on Shubman Gill’s health and fitness. The 24-year-old young batter got a high dengue fever during their ODI World Cup 2023 warm-up games, owing to which he had missed the first two clashes of the marquee event. Notably, Mumbai Indians star Ishan Kishan replaces him in the opening order but is unable to make an impact during both games.
The 36-year-old skipper reveals that Shubman Gill will play 99% against Pakistan on October 14. However, the opening batter also clarified that their side will take the final call ahead of the game. Notably, Shubman Gill’s presence will bolster Team India owing to his record-breaking performances on his IPL home ground. In addition, the Punjab-born cricketer finished as the leading run scorer and guided his side, the Gujarat Titans, in the final of the IPL 2023.

Meanwhile, Pakistan also maintained their winning momentum as they were able to get the win against the Netherlands and Sri Lanka, while they will be taking on Team India in their next clash. Notably, both sides earlier faced twice in the Asia Cup 2023, where Pakistan suffered a historic loss against the Men in Blue during the Super Fours of the Asia Cup 2023 while Team India were able to win the title of the Continental Cup.
“99 per cent he (Gill) will play. We’ll see tomorrow (Saturday) about that,” Rohit Sharma said when asked about Gill’s health at the pre-match press conference.
