‘We have prepared for this day ever since..’ – Rohit Sharma’s audacious statement in pre-match conference ahead of ODI World Cup 2023 final vs Australia
The Men in Blue are all set to lock horns against the Pat Cummins-led Australian side on November 19 at the iconic Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad for the final of the ODI World Cup 2023 clash. However, India’s skipper, Rohit Sharma, has opened up about his thoughts and approach in the pre-match conference ahead of the final showdown.
The 36-year-old skipper seems very confident while asserting that he has been prepared for this day since the day he became Indian captain. In addition, the top-order batter reveals that they had a very clear role and clarity about the players in every format of the game over the past two years. The opening batter says that their minds are clear ahead of the final game, as he is hoping that the hosts will have a great day on November 19.
“We have prepared for this day ever since I became the captain. Had to identify players in the last 2 years, as per the formats. We had given role clarity and lots of discussions between the captain and coach. The importance of role clarity is huge for us in reaching this platform. We have tried our best to keep the mindset and roles clear. So far so good, hopefully tomorrow as well,” Rohit Sharma said in the pre-match conference.
We don’t want to worry about what kind of form they are in rather focus on our cricket: Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma also heaps praise on the five-time world champions, as they also won their last straight eight clash. Moreover, the stylish right-handed batter feels both teams deserve to play in the finals owing to their flabbergasting performances.
“Australia have won 8 out of 8. They have played good cricket and both the teams deserve to be in the finals. We know what Australia can do. They are a very complete side. We want to focus on what we want to do. We don’t want to worry about what kind of form they are in rather focus on our cricket and plans,” he added further.
