‘With hard work and grit, dreams do come true’ – Sai Sudharsan opens up on India win in 1st ODI vs South Africa

India’s star cricketer Sai Sudharsan shared a heartwarming post after India’s win over South Africa in the first ODI on December 17 at Wanderers Stadium. Notably, the young batter piled up an unbeaten 55 runs from 43 balls, smashing nine boundaries with his solid strike rate of 128 to make sure India won the series-opening game.

Gujarat Titans star Sai Sudharsan took to social media and expressed his happiness after India’s win over the Proteas. In addition, the 22-year-old batter reveals that it was his childhood dream to represent India, and his true hard work and grit have led him to fulfil his goals. Moreover, the top-order batter was elated to receive his debut cap from KL Rahul while enjoying stitching the stand with Shreyas Iyer.

“Growing up as a small kid like everybody, I also dreamt of playing for the country. So with hard work and grit, dreams do come true. Blessed to represent the country and contribute to the team. Looking forward to lots of memories. Special to receive the cap from @klrahul Bhai & it was amazing to bat with @ShreyasIyer15 Bhai,” Sai Sudharsan wrote on X.

Meanwhile, India’s stand-in skipper, KL Rahul, also expressed happiness after India’s young side led to a win against a strong South African side. The wicketkeeper batter revealed their plans and tactics that helped them win the game in the series opener, which led them to a 1-0 lead.

“I am happy. Good to have a win under the belt. Completely different to what we expected. The plan was to get the spinners in the game. Sai Sudharsan did really well. The boys did well to stay disciplined. The ball kept moving around. There is a lot of cricket being played. You prioritize one format. For now, it is Tests and T20s. Everyone is performing and trying to do well for the country. Good chance for them to get a taste of international cricket,” KL Rahul said after the win.
