Gujarat Titans opening batter Shubman Gill has been in great form in the ongoing game against Sunrisers Hyderabad. In the game, the home team lost the toss and was asked to bat first. The defending champions had a poor start as Wriddhiman Saha was caught at slips in the first over. Sai Sudarshan came out to bat who was playing his first game after a while.

However, he played the second fiddle while Gill kept playing his shots. He started his innings with two fours in his first three balls. In the fourth over of the innings, the right-hander hit four back-to-back boundaries against Fazalhaq Farooqi. In the next three overs, the 2018 U19 World Cup winner hit five fours to get to his fifty in just 22 balls.

After the eighth over, India’s opening batter didn’t hit a boundary till the 11th over but kept rotating the strike. In the 12th over, the Punjab player hit a six and a four to reach 77 runs. Not to forget, after the 15th over, the former India U19 player reached 89 runs. However, with the team lost wickets at regular intervals in the last five overs. In the penultimate over, Gill finally managed to reach his maiden IPL hundred.

This helped the team reach 189/9 with Bhuvneshwar Kumar taking his maiden five-wicket haul.

Shubman Gill has scored maiden hundreds across formats this year

Since last December, the opening batter has scored maiden hundred across formats. In December last year, he scored his maiden Test hundred in the game against Bangladesh. In January this year, he scored his maiden ODI hundred. After a while, he scored his maiden T20I hundred in the game against New Zealand.

Now, he was only lacking an IPL hundred. However, he has managed to do so in the ongoing game. Meanwhile, the fans have praised the rising Indian player.
