Sarfaraz Khan takes indirect dig at selectors after missing out on Indian Test squad for West Indies tour
Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan finally broke his silence after missing out on the Indian Test squad for the upcoming tour to West Indies. India are scheduled to play two Tests, three ODIs and five T20Is against the hosts and squads for Tests and ODIs have already been announced by the Indian Cricket Board. Rohit Sharma has been appointed as the captain of both teams, while Ajinkya Rahane has been re-appointed as the vice-captain of the Test side.
There also are a few new names in the red-ball squad like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad. One of both players is likely to make his India debut as Cheteshwar Pujara has been ruled of the Test squad. However, some experts have been mocking the selectors for selecting the players on the basis of IPL performances and ignoring domestic talents like Sarfaraz.

Sarfaraz has great numbers in first-class cricket
Sarfaraz didn’t have a great outing in IPL 2023 but has outstanding numbers for Mumbai in domestic cricket over the past few years. In the 2019-20 season, he had amassed 928 runs at a colossal average of 154. In the next season, he amassed 982 runs at 122.75 and then followed it up with a 556-run season in 2022/23 where he smashed three centuries. Overall the 25-year-old has amassed 3505 runs in 35 appearances at an average of 79.65 with 13 tons.
Despite these numbers in domestic cricket, Sarfaraz is still waiting for his maiden India call-up. However, the fans were hoping for him to get selected in the squad for the upcoming tour but the selectors didn’t consider him. Sarfaraz himself responded to the snub as he shared a story on his Instagram. He shared video highlights from the last Ranji Trophy season where one can also see his stats throughout his Ranji career first-class career. Although, the cricketer didn’t mention anything the fans are assuming it as an indirect dig at the Indian Cricket Board.
