Australia’s star skipper, Pat Cummins, might not play in the three-match ODI series against India next month. Meanwhile, it was reported that the Australian pacer had played the fifth and final Ashes Test with an injured wrist. In addition, there is no official update from Cricket Australia regarding Cummins’ availability during the India tour.

Rohit Sharma-led India is all set to play the three-match ODI series against Australia, commencing on September 22 in Mohali. Notably, this series is definitely going to be a major boost for both sides ahead of the World Cup, which is slated to take place in October-November this year.

Meanwhile, the right-arm fast bowler was expected to take some time off ahead of the World Cup. Notably, Pat Cummins had played six Tests back-to-back (one WTC Final vs. India, five Ashes). Moreover, Cricket Australia has yet to announce the squad for their South Africa and India tours.

However, “two sources with knowledge of the matter but not authorized to speak publicly say medical staff have not ruled out a possible fracture,” according to the ‘Sydney Morning Herald’.

Furthermore, the 30-year-old skipper’s availability will be crucial during the forthcoming World Cup. Notably, Australia recently won the World Test Championship title after defeating India at The Oval in London, and moreover, they will be looking to continue this winning momentum during the upcoming mega tournament.

Unfortunately, it was not to be but what a great series: Pat Cummins

Meanwhile, the Pat Cummins-led side once again failed to win the Ashes despite winning the first two Test matches against the home team. Speaking on the same subject, Pat Cummins expressed disappointment at not winning the series but called it a great series against England.

“We said from the start we were over here to win the Ashes. Unfortunately, it was not to be but what a great series. I think we can be immensely proud of holding the Ashes, England are a very strong team in their own conditions. We are really proud of how we stuck strong,” Cummins said after finishing the fifth Ashes Test.
