‘One of our fielders came to me……..’ – Shakib-Al-Hasan makes bold and audacious claim about Angelo Mathews timed out dismissal

Sri Lanka cricket team has been knocked out of the ODI World Cup 2023 following their defeat over Bangladesh in their eighth clash of the marquee event at Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi. However, Sri Lankan cricketer Angelo Mathews became the first cricketer to be dismissed from the game via timed-out for the first time in cricketing history. Notably, both teams have been making headlines following the match.

However, Sri Lankan middle-order batsman Angelo Mathews reveals that he hasn’t done anything wrong. The 36-year-old cricketer explains that his equipment failed in the game, which made him slow in the game. Moreover, the Colombo-born cricketer felt the Shakib-Al-Hasan side should have used common sense before sending him off.

“I haven’t done anything wrong. I had two minutes to get ready which I did but there was an equipment malfunction and I don’t know where commonsense (had) gone. It was disgraceful from Shakib and Bangladesh. If they want to play cricket like that, stoop to that level, it is something wrong drastically. It was just pure common sense, I am not saying (doing) ‘Mankading’ or obstructing the field here, It is absolutely disgraceful,” Angelo Mathews said.

Today that the time out helped, I won’t deny that: Shakib-Al-Hasan

Meanwhile, Bangladesh skipper Shakib-Al-Hasan has made a huge and audacious claim about Angelo Mathews’s dismissal. The great all-rounder reiterated that one of his teammates came to him and suggested he appeal for an out. Moreover, the middle-order batsman acknowledged that that timed out had helped him defeat Sri Lanka by three wickets in their recent clash.

“One of our fielders came to me and said that if I appealed, he would be out. The umpire asked me if I was serious. It’s in the laws; I don’t know if it’s right or wrong. I felt like I was at war. Whatever I had to do, I did it. There will be debates. Today that (the time out) helped, I won’t deny that!,” Shakib-Al-Hasan said.
