India’s star cricketer Shams Mulani heaps praise on Mumbai skipper Ajinkya Rahane owing to his leadership quality in the Ranji Trophy 2024. Notably, the 26-year-old cricketer is also part of the leadership team as he has been serving as Ajinkya Rahane’s deputy for Mumbai since several editions of first-class games.

Mulani affirmed that Rahane has been the true leader for Mumbai and gets the best out of his teammates. In addition, the left-arm spinner feels extremely great to be serving as the deputy of Ajinkya Rahane, who has played a plethora of Test matches for Team India, as well as having a bunch of experience to get the best out of the players.

“Ajinkya Rahane is a true leader and gets the best out of his teammates. It is always great to have a player of his stature, who has played so many Test matches for India, lead the Mumbai team as he knows exactly what needs to be said at what time,” Shams Mulani said.

We did play in the final of the 2021/22 Ranji Trophy but unfortunately, we lost: Shams Mulani

The Maharashtra-born cricketer recalled the Ranji Trophy 2021/2022 when their side lost the final game against Madhya Pradesh in Bangalore. In addition, the 26-year-old cricketer also talks about the current team of Mumbai in the ongoing edition of the Ranji Trophy 2024. Shams Mulani feels their team is strong despite their few players playing for India A; however, other players have great experience, which can help them win the title for Mumbai.

“We did play in the final of the 2021/22 Ranji Trophy but unfortunately we lost. But it does happen that if we don’t win for 2-3 years, suddenly there are talks about a crisis in Mumbai cricket. That’s the benchmark we have set. If you look at our batting and bowling, apart from a few players who have gone to play for India A and Indian team, most of other players are available. They bring experience with them and it helps the team in crunch situations in the Ranji Trophy,” he added further.
