Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra reacted to Mickey Arthur’s comments on lack of support for Pakistan in the match against India in the ODI World Cup 2023. The Pakistani coach gave his opinion about not playing the song of Pakistan, which made the players feel like playing in a bilateral series against India.

In the press conference after the match, Mickey said “Look, I’d be lying if I said… It didn’t seem like an ICC event, tonight, to be brutally honest. It seemed like a bilateral series; it seemed like a BCCI event. I didn’t hear Dil Dil Pakistan coming through the microphones too often tonight,” and felt that Pakistan lacked support in the match.

Arthur did tell that it was not an excuse from his side about the loss of Pakistan. “So yes, that does play a role, but I’m not going to use that as an excuse because for us, it was about living the moment, it was about the next ball and it was about how we were going to combat the Indian players tonight,” added Arthur.

“DJ wale babu mera gana baja do…I mean seriously???? Did we hear Sri Lanka complain about the fact that the Hyderabad crowd was chanting ‘Pakistan Jeetega’?? I’ll be genuinely surprised if the DJ at Narendra Modi Stadium played ‘Dil Dil Pakistan’ even once today,” wrote Chopra on his social media account.

It is interesting to note that Pakistan is yet to win a match in the ODI World Cup against India. In all 8 instances between the two teams in the biggest cricket tournament, India has claimed wins against Pakistan. Fans supported Chopra fir his take on Arthur’s statement.
