Shoaib Akhtar’s old ‘you didn’t do Pakistan a favour’ video resurfaces amid Mohammad Amir Saga

The possibility of Pakistan’s pacer Mohammad Amir returning to International Cricket has been on the rise. This has been the case ever since the change in management of Pakistan’s governing body for Cricket. While the pacer himself hasn’t made any announcement, Najam Sethi, the PCB chief, has addressed the matter. He said the team’s gates are open for the speedster to return.

Amir is currently engaged with the Bangladesh Premier League franchise, Sylhet Strikers. He has been in flying form, gulping up 13 wickets in 10 games with an economy rate of just 5.95. Amir had previously mentioned ‘mental torture’ by the Pakistan Board as the reason for his untimely retirement from International Cricket.

Shoaib Akhtar’s old video adds fuel to the Mohammad Amir Controversy

Amidst all the controversy, an old clip of Pakistani Cricketing Superstar Shoaib Akhtar has resurfaced to add more fuel. The video posted by Saad Sports on YouTube revealed Akhtar slamming the player and mismanagement by the board.

“PCB calling Mohammad Amir and asking do you want to play, in my opinion, this is not the right approach,” the veteran said in the clip.

He further adds, “We were also dropped in the past, the PCB management was angry with me for almost 12 years, but this doesn’t mean that I should quit. Instead, we should think what are Pakistan’s requirements; this was his mistake.

“He goes and says in interviews that he invested himself in Cricket, he has been punished as well in the past. Well, you did something wrong; hence you were punished. You didn’t do a favour to Pakistan cricket. You had to repay what the country gave you, the country was expecting that from you.

“Until 2017, he had okay kind of performances, which was followed by a brilliant show in the Champions Trophy. However, after that, there were hardly anything standard in the next 15-20 ODIs.”
