‘Shubman ko Rohit ke sath opening karni chahiye’ – Twitter upset over reports of Shubman Gill batting at number five in BGT 2023

Team India is all set to host Australia for a four-match Test series beginning on Thursday, February 9, at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium Nagpur. The second series of the match will be played in Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium on February 17, the third one will be played in Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala on March 1, and the final test will be played in Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on March 9.

After the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023, Men in Blue will lock horns with the Kangaroos in the three-match ODI series which will be played in Mumbai, Visakhapatnam, and Chennai on March 17, March 19, and March 22 respectively.

For India, two top-order batters Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant are out of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy due to their respective injuries. The likely replacement for them is Suryakumar Yadav and KS Bharat. But on Tuesday, during a practice session, India’s young batter Shubman Gill, who is in terrific form in ODIs and T20Is was seen batting in the second slot after the top four – Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Virat Kohli completed their training in the first session.

“We still haven’t decided on the final XI. It’s going to be a tough decision to make. There are guys who have performed exceedingly well and there are a few sports open so there are a few discussions going on and the players are being spoken to,” Rahul was quoted as saying when he was asked whether Gill will bat at number 5 or not.

Suryakumar has the most possibility to bat at number five because of his batting style, former national selector Devang Gandhi feels that Rahul Dravid should include him in the first test. “Shubman had a double hundred in West Indies for India A in the middle order. In the last series against Bangladesh, he got a century,” Gandhi was quoted as saying in Times of India.
