‘SRH ko karma ka matlab pata chala’- Twitter rubs salt as SRH lose back-to-back IPL matches, LSG onto a flyer with 2 wins

On 7 April 2023, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) took on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). Both teams were coming off a loss in their previous games and were eager to register a win in this clash.

Aiden Markram, who missed the season opener against Rajasthan due to national duties, made his debut as the captain of SRH. He won the toss and elected to bat first. However, the pitch turned out to be spin-friendly, and the Hyderabad batters struggled against LSG’s spinners.

SRH managed to score only 121 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their 20 overs. Rahul Tripathi was the highest scorer with 34 runs off 41 balls, while Anmolpreet Singh scored 31 runs off 26 balls. Markram and Brook had a disappointing outing as they scored a golden duck and just three runs, respectively. Krunal Pandya was the pick of the bowlers for LSG, taking three wickets for 18 runs in four overs. Amit Mishra took two wickets for 23 runs, while Ravi Bishnoi and Yash Thakur took one wicket each.

In the chase, Kyle Mayers and KL Rahul opened the innings for LSG. Mayers got out after scoring 13 runs off 14 balls, while Deepak Hooda got out after scoring just seven runs. Pandya scored 34 runs off 28 balls, while Rahul scored 35 runs off 36 balls. Finally, LSG chased down the target in 16 overs with five wickets in hand, registering their second win of the IPL 2023.

It was a disappointing debut for Markram as the captain of SRH, with his team suffering a horrible loss. On the other hand, LSG’s spinners proved to be the difference-makers, restricting SRH to a low total and helping their team register a comfortable win.
