Pakistan is currently locking horns with Sri Lanka in the first of the two-match Test series played at the Galle International Stadium, in Galle. Sri Lanka chose to bat after winning the toss and scored 312 runs. For Pakistan, three wickets each were snapped by Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Abrar Ahmed in their respective spells. I am sure this tour will be a good learning curve for him: Babar Azam

In reply to Sri Lanka’s 312 runs, Pakistan started off their innings steadily but they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. They lost half of their side on 101 runs. The batters like Babar Azam, Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Imam-ul-Haq were unable to score runs in the match. Babar was dismissed by Prabath Jayasuriya as he edged the flighted delivery and the catch was taken by wicketkeeper Samarawickrama behind the stumps.

Ahead of the first Test against Sri Lanka, Babar was really excited. His excitement was clearly seen in the pre-match interview. “Really excited to be back in the red-ball format and all eyes are on the Galle Test as we are prepared and ready for the challenge. We are taking one step at a time, but we have to be consistent across all formats,” he stated.

“One of the positives going into the Galle Test is that 13 of our players were here 12 months ago. Abrar Ahmed has identified himself as a good option in our combination. I am sure this tour will be a good learning curve for him as we have high hopes from him in this and future series,” Babar added.
