Maybe it was my day, the slower wicket definitely helped: Dhananjaya de Silva

Meanwhile, following the win, skipper Dhananjaya de Silva affirmed that their squad is very strong and that there are a plethora of match-winners in Dambulla Aura, who helped his side win the match. In addition, the great all-rounder believes that it was his day owing to his magnificent bowling spell against Kandy.

“Our bench is very strong, it was our captain’s idea to give them a chance. We have a lot of guys that can match up one to one. It’s a good headache to be having. [bowling spell?] Maybe it was my day, the slower wicket definitely helped,” stand-in skipper Dhananjaya de Silva said during the post-match presentation.

Meanwhile, following the loss, skipper Wanindu Hasaranga expressed displeasure that they were playing back-to-back matches without rest. In addition, the great spinner feels that the bowlers really did a great job, but the batters were unable to score much, which caused them a loss.

“We’re human, it’s tough to play back-to-back games without even 24 hours rest. But our bowlers did a really good job, we just need one or two more batters to chip in,” Kandy skipper Wanindu Hasaranga said after the loss.
