‘Won’t be surprised if they once again get into the top four’ – Former batting legend drops bombshell prediction about Gujarat Titans ahead of IPL 2024

Former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar feels that the Gujarat Titans are once again going to have the blast edition of IPL 2024 under the new captain Shubman Gill with the guidance of coach Ashish Nehra. Notably, the Gujarat Titans had an amazing IPL 2022 edition where they finished up being the winners. However, they finished being the first runner-up in IPL 2023 after CSK beat them in the last two balls of the game.

However, Sunil Gavaskar feels that GT coach Ashwin Nehra will play a crucial role in IPL 2024. The former India skipper feels that the side can be in the top four this edition as well. In addition, the former batting legend is unsure how much the side will hold after Hardik Pandya gets replaced as the skipper.

“Over and above, Ashish Nehra will be the one who will be holding the reins. With Ashish Nehra holding the reins and guiding Shubman Gill, I won’t be surprised if the Gujarat Titans once again get into the top four. Shubman Gill, a young cricketer, it’s difficult to say whether he would be able to have the same impact that Hardik Pandya had. Gill was in unbelievable form last year himself,” Sunil Gavaskar said on Star Sports.

Shubman Gill is not quite that extrovert as yet but he is not an introvert either: Sunil Gavaskar

Sunil Gavaskar feels that Shubman Gill’s form in the IPL 2024 is set to play a crucial role. Moreover, the cricketer-turned-analyst believes that how Shubman Gill plays the role of young and senior players plays the most crucial role in IPL 2024.

“When a captain is in such good form, he can lead also a lot better. With his place being guaranteed and certain, the rest know that here is a performer and we have got to do what he is asking us to do. Shubman Gill is not quite that extrovert as yet but he is not an introvert either. So how Shubman Gill gels with the other younger players and also some of the senior players is going to be the key,” he added further.
