‘Perfect Replacement’ – Fans react as Suryakumar Yadav and Mohammed Shami set to be in India’s playing XI for ODI WC 2023 vs New Zealand

Published on

Team India is all set to lock horns against New Zealand on October 22 at Dharamshala for their fifth game of the ODI World Cup 2023. Notably, Rohit Sharma and Co., as well as the Black Caps, are currently undefeated in the tournament, which places them in the top two spots in the points table. The Men in Blue recently defeated Bangladesh in their last game, while the Kiwis beat Afghanistan in their recent clash.

However, the Kiwis are in the top position due to a slightly better run rate as compared to the hosts. Both teams stand in the top spot with four out of four wins in the ongoing marquee event. According to reports, star all-rounder Hardik Pandya’s replacement has been named for India’s clash against New Zealand on October 22. Suryakumar Yadav and Mohammed Shami may get the nod over Hardik Pandya and Shardul Thakur during their ODI World Cup 2023 clash against New Zealand.

Notably, the names have not been confirmed or revealed by the Indian Cricket Board management, but a few reports claim that Suryakumar Yadav and Mohammed Shami will be in action against the Black Caps in India’s next clash. However, both great cricketers were last seen playing three matches of the ODI Series against Australia ahead of the marquee event.

Suryakumar Yadav and Mohammed Shami only get to play one game in the Asia Cup 2023

The great middle-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav, despite being the number one T20I batsman, didn’t get the chance to make the playing XI for the ODI World Cup 2023 owing to his poor performances in the 50-over formats. However, Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah’s solid form dampens Mohammad Shami’s place in their squad.

Mumbai Indians star Suryakumar Yadav showed his flabbergasting show in the recently concluded ODI Series against Australia, where he smashed two brilliant half centuries out of three games. In addition, right-arm pacer Mohammed Shami also looks lethal as he gets the 5-wicket haul against Australia ahead of the event. Notably, both cricketers also get to play only a single game in the Asia Cup 2023, where India suffered a six-run loss against Bangladesh.
