‘Taareef to karna padegi na re baba’ – Fans react as Shubman Gill calls legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar his inspiration

India star batter Shubman Gill received the CEAT best batter award of the year owing to his magnificent batting stint. Notably, the star batter was in terrific form during the Border Gavaskar Trophy earlier this year and was also the leading run scorer in the IPL 2023 as he guided his franchise in the final of the 2023 edition.

Meanwhile, the stylish right-handed batter has called Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar his idol during his growing days. In addition, the Gujarat Titans opener also named former India skipper Virat Kohli as his inspiration. Moreover, the young batter has always been a fan of the 34-year-old RCB batter.

“(Greatest inspiration) While growing up, it was Sachin sir. Once he retired and once I started to understand the game a bit more, I was always a fan of Virat bhai,” Shubman Gill said on Star Sports.

Notably, the stylish right-handed batter reveals that he has followed star batter Virat Kohli since he was 12–13 years old. In addition, the 23-year-old cricketer has learned a lot from Chase Master Virat Kohli. Furthermore, the Punjab-born cricketer has always been inspired by Virat Kohli’s commitment and passion towards the game, which helped him excel in batting.

“When I was 12-13 years old I followed Virat Kohli bhai the most, he has been my idol since I started understanding cricket. I learned a lot from Virat bhai. His batting & passion & commitment motivates me. Sachin Tendulkar & Virat Kohli are my Idols & Inspirations,” he added further.

Meanwhile, Shubman Gill will be next seen in action during the upcoming Asia Cup. Notably, the star batter will be expected to give a great start to Rohit Sharma’s side to win the marquee event. In addition,  India’s opener was not looked into for the great momentum after IPL 2023 as he failed to score much during the WTC Finals as well as the recently concluded West Indies tour.
