‘Aray bhai kuch naya batao’ – Fans react as Team India beat Pakistan by 7 wickets in ODI World Cup 2023

Team India won their third game of the ODI World Cup 2023 against arch-rivals Pakistan by 7 wickets on October 14 at the iconic Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. Notably, the Men in Blue had already defeated five-time world champions Australia in their opening game of the marquee event on October 8, whereas they thrashed Afghanistan in their second clash of the event.

Speaking about the game here, it was Team India’s skipper Rohit Sharma who won the toss and invited the Pakistan team to bat first in the play. Notably, after being sent to bat first, Babar Azam and Co. had a magnificent start in the play as they were 155/2; however, Team India made a great comeback and reduced them to just 191 runs in 42.5 overs.

Notably, star openers Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq piled up 20 and 36 runs, giving them a decent start for their side. Pakistan’s skipper Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan piled up 50 and 49 runs, respectively, which boosted their middle order and gave them high hopes to post a challenging total against the hosts.

Team India single-handedly destroyed Pakistan’s bowler during the chase

However, it could not happen as Saud Shakeel, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz, Hasan Ali, and Haris Rauf departed after scoring runs in a single digit. Notably, star pacers Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Hardik Pandya got two wickets, whereas great spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja also scalped two wickets each to reduce the Pakistani team very early in the game.

Meanwhile, during the chase, Gujarat Titans opener Shubman Gill missed out on marking his impact in the ODI World Cup debut match as he was dismissed for just 16 runs. However, it was skipper Rohit Sharma who stood up for his side and destroyed the Pakistani bowlers. The 36-year-old skipper has piled up 86 runs from just 63 balls, hitting six boundaries and six sixes to boost India’s innings. Notably, India’s stalwart Virat Kohli was cheaply departed for 16 runs. Later, in the end, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul guided their side to a great win over Pakistan.
