India’s star batter Shreyas Iyer has rejoined the Asia Cup squad after sustaining a back spasm ahead of the India-Pakistan Clash on September 11. Notably, this is terrific news for Team India ahead of the final clash of the Asia Cup 2023, where they might be facing arch-rivals Pakistan or defending champions Sri Lanka on September 17 in Colombo.

Notably, the great middle-order batter sustained an injury during the fourth Test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy earlier this year, which made him miss the IPL, the World Test Championship Final, and the West Indies and Ireland tour.

Meanwhile, the stylish right-handed batter made his comeback during the Asia Cup 2023. The 28-year-old cricketer was seen in action during the group-stage clash against Nepal and Pakistan. Later, the Mumbai-born cricketer sustained injuries during their opening game of the Super Fours of the Asia Cup 2023, which marked the way for KL Rahul in the squad, who hammered an impressive tonne against Babar Azam and Co. and scored a crucial 39 runs against Sri Lanka on September 12 at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Massive boost for India as Shreyas Iyer starts training in nets

Team India has already reached the final of the Asia Cup 2023 after registering a magnificent win against Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the Super Fours. Notably, Shreyas Iyer is well now and is expected to bat in their last match of the Super Fours against Bangladesh on September 15. Notably, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, and Prasidh Krishna can also be seen in action during the clash.

Meanwhile, ahead of India’s clash against Sri Lanka on September 12, the Indian Cricket Board has provided fresh updates on Shreyas Iyer’s injury. The statement states that the star batter is feeling better but hasn’t recovered fully enough to feature in the game. “Shreyas Iyer is feeling better but is yet to fully recover from back spasm. He has been adviced rest by the BCCI Medical Team and has not travelled with the team to the stadium today for India’s Super 4 match against Sri Lanka,” the Indian Cricket Board wrote on X (on September 12).
