‘Test Final me bhi yahi attitude mangta hai’ – Fans react as Shubman Gill confident of GT winning Qualifier 1 against CSK

The defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) continued their dominance in IPL 2023 as they registered a 6-wicket win in the last league match of the season at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium to knock Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) out of the playoffs race. With this win, GT also finished the league stage by standing at the top of the points table with 10 wins from 14 matches.

GT will now lock horns with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Qualifier 1 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on May 23rd. However, it would not be an easy task to beat CSK in their own backyard, but GT star batter Shubman Gill is hopeful that his team can pull off a victory against MS Dhoni’s side and can make it to their second consecutive final in IPL.

‘It’s going to be an exciting one’ – Gill

The 23-year-old was awarded Player of the Match as he smashed his second consecutive ton when GT were chasing a target of 198 runs against RCB. He remained unbeaten on 104 runs off 52 balls hitting five four and eight sixes as GT chased the winning total in 19.1 overs losing 4 wickets. After the match, Gill said that GT has a great bowling attack and they can make it to the final by defeating CSK in Chepauk.

“I am in good form, it’s about getting a start and converting it into a big one. It’s all working out for me in the business end of the tournament. You need to keep playing shots in T20 cricket. The new ball was holding a bit, it got easier to bat on. It was difficult for their spinners to bowl,” Gill said at the post-match presentation.

“He (Shankar) was trying to hit too hard, I told him to hold his shape. Once he found the momentum, he can hit long. I know my game; I keep building on it. It’s going to be an exciting one, playing against Chennai in Chennai. We have a great bowling attack and hopefully, we’ll make it to the final for the second time,” He further added.
