India lost the second T20I against West Indies in Guyana by 2 wickets. The Indian team was in a winning position at one stage after picking wickets in succession towards the back end of the game. But due to some of the questionable decisions from the captain and a good display of batting from the West Indies, India could not win the game. As a result, India must win all three games from here.

A team that won the inaugural T20 World Cup is finding it difficult to beat West Indies. The Indian Premier League is 15 years old, and India is yet to win a T20 World Cup. The former India cricketer and coach talked about the same after India lost the second T20I against West Indies. Venkatesh Prasad, who was the bowling coach of India, gave his opinions on India’s loss in the match.

Very, very ordinary- Venkatesh Prasad

The 54-year-old took to Twitter and posted his opinions about India’s performance against West Indies. The former Indian bowler wrote “Very, very ordinary. No point in brushing it aside. After the 2007 T20 World Cup, IPL started and we haven’t won a T20 World Cup in 7 attempts since, making only 1 final. The intensity and hunger to win needs to be far more,” and expressed his disappointment.

Yuzvendra Chahal, who was the pick of the bowlers, did not complete his quota of 4 overs in the match. Prasad mentioned it. “Yesterday after Yuzi took 2 wickets in the 16th over and got India back into the game in what was his third over and West Indies 8th down and he didn’t bowl again and No 9 and 10 for WI found the pacers easy to handle. Should be smarter at these moments than just doing textbook stuff” wrote Prasad.

The former India pacer was the bowling coach of India during the 2007 T20 World Cup. From witnessing the team lifting the maiden T20 World Cup to seeing the team finding it difficult to beat West Indies, Prasad would have experienced different things altogether.
